Taro Aso and the Liberal Democratic Party just had their asses handed to them on a sushi platter yesterday. A right royal ass kicking is what they got and this almost certainly means that Aso will have pressure to resign quickly. Either that, or hold an election and drag the party with him to the depths of political oblivion.

Seems like exciting stuff but it isn't really because which cardboard cut out is going to be the next PM?

The most entertaining one, if I have my way anyway.

Quite honestly Beat Takeshi or even a small potted shrub would be better than the parasitic, self serving, corrupt, geriatrics that are laughing referred to as the leaders of Japan...

Absolutely. After watching this video, I thought the same thing:

I think it would be best if the next PM was simply a sock puppet.  It doesn't matter who manipulates it, or even if it's just an empty sock puppet.  But the main thing is that it have those googly eyes like cookie monster.

It would certainly make interviews more amusing!

"Mr P. what are your views on swine flu"
"...."
"well are you recomending any safety precautions to prevent contamination?"
"..."
"what are you going to do when the preverbial shit hits the fan?"
"..."

And of course a puppet is notoriously hard to assassinate. As long as it's flame resistant anyway.

The news is awfully quiet about Aso even though his being there is completely destroying his own party. I guess the alternatives are so crap that no one really cares what happens next. Maybe sock puppets are the answer.
